The Lenin Steelworks in Nowa Huta (Poland) was one of the largest industrial plants in the Eastern Bloc. During the communist era, factory trade unions frequently issued medals to workers for anniversaries, achievements, or internal events. This piece is one such internal commemorative medal, likely awarded by the plant’s Trade Union Council.
Medals of this type were produced in small batches, usually in bronze or brass, and distributed only within the workforce.
