Lord (Harold Rupert Leofric George) Alexander, 1st Earl Alexander of Tunis (10 December 1891 – 16 June 1969) was appointed in 1946 as Governor General of Canada by King George VI, on the recommendation of the Prime Minister of Canada, William Lyon Mackenzie King.
Lord & Lady Alexander's medal comes in a blue case with gold “dexter arm” in armour embowed, the hand holding a sword.
These Governor General's Academic Medals have been issued in several compositions - since 1873 - to encourage academic excellence across the nation.
