Issuer: Municipality of Resplendor (Minas Gerais).
Legislation: Created by Municipal Law No. 1,206/2022.

Ubérrima is the name of the first local public currency in Brazil, created by the Municipality of Resplendor (MG) in partnership with SEBRAE to strengthen the municipal economy, retaining wealth in the city and encouraging local commerce, with a 1-to-1 parity with the Real (R$). The term, which means "very abundant and fertile," was chosen through popular vote and refers to the history and culture of Resplendor, being a pioneering project in the country to develop the region.
Parity: Each Ubérrima (Ub) is worth 1 Real (R). Circulation: Used for commercial transactions within Resplendor, with the goal of keeping money circulating in the city. Incentives: Merchants can offer discounts and loyalty programs for those who pay in Ubérrimas. Resources: The City Hall holds the corresponding value in Reais for each Ubérrima issued, guaranteeing the security of the value.
Project Objectives:
Strengthen local commerce and economic development.
Prevent capital flight (money leaving the city).
Promote a sense of community and unity.
