I was browsing at an online merchant site, found this beautiful 1943 Walking Liberty Half Dollar and reserved it.

Excited, I did some research in various coin sites, youtube etc. about it and found out that lots of counterfeit are going around and admittedly these are good production fakes even better looking than the real ones! I kinda became hesitant to push through with my purchase wondering if the coin shown above is the real mccoy.

So what do you think guys? Yes, I've read about the weight, magnet & sound tests, but unfortunately I still don't have the coin. So for now the basis for authenticity will be on the appearance and state of the coin.

Your comments will be much appreciated.
It is most likely authentic but possibly cleaned

...and cleaning takes away some value from the coin, right?

Yes, it does
The value taken away varies depending on the type of coin as well as the type and harshness of the cleaning

Copy that! Thanks AglsSilver
1943 is one of the commonest dates anyway. Even in higher grades worth barely more than the silver bullion value.

Well, that's ok as long as it's the real deal!

Anyway, I'm buying this to celebrate my loving mom's birth year, whose name happens to be Liberty. So I guess that's just fine with me!

Cheers y'all!
That’s a good plan.

Just want to point out that the coin you are considering is actually a 1943 S mint. Slightly more desirable than the P mint of that year. About 53 million of the P mint minted that year versus about 13 million of the S mint minted that year.
