When a die is about gone you get, what they are calling orange peel texture. I have been finding alot of this on US quarters and dimes. What have you heard.

sorry images are not to good. daryl
It is, what it is, or is it.
I have always thought that USA coins were poor quality when compared with other mints, this type of effect can also be seen on Panama quarter balboa coins which are struck on the same blanks as quarters.

It also looks they have that (the coin has been) plated look. This might be due to the sheer amount of coins produced compared to other countries for example the amount of quarters made in one year is comparable to a decade or more of 10ps made in the U.K.
Hi to whoever is reading this. Did you know that TYPEWRITER (on a QWERTY keyboard) is the longest word you can type using only the letters on one row of the keyboard.
The US mint is far from the poorest in the world, but manufacturing quality control is definately on the decline in all sectors, as a cost- and not a profit-center department.
