Possible 1804 American large cent?

Hi all, recently I got my hands on what I thought at the time was a corroded and dateless American draped bust large cent. Upon bringing it home and getting some better light on it I noticed what appears to be an extremely faint date reading “1804”. As you can imagine I'm very excited about this, but I wanted to get some more opinions before I went around bragging about it :P

I've attached photos of the obverse and reverse of the piece, let me know what you think!

I can see 18 so the 0 should be there too but the last digit is completely gone for me.

Even if it is a 4 you'd have to see the crosslet to differentiate it from the old restrikes.

Well it certainly looks authentic but the photograph provided is not conducive to verifying the 1804 date and other features that help to identify exactly what you have. Sometimes you just have to keep shifting the coin in hand under a loupe to verify details such as date or  variety. I can't make those details out.  An 1804 would be a great find even in the poor condition it is in.

Not a restrike.  The restrike used a 1820 reverse die.  It did not have 1/100 at the bottom and had no break in the wreath at the top.
