Just got today but not sure if it's the large or small date version, if someone could inform how to verify which is which please.

I'd say at a guess, it is a small date version.

The large date extends over 11 of the beads at the border, the small date covers 9.

Dunno mate, I can't tell from the picture. I only include major design changes in my collection but every now and then I've been known to check for varieties in the hope of finding something very rare.

There is another variety with a pronounced downstroke at the tip of the "7".

Yup, agreed - it's a beauty. A combination of a heavy coin and relatively soft metal leads to rim damage being the norm, but the rims are good. That's a keeper.

Massively jealous I really need one of these pennies and tbh I will settle for nothing less than that grade if I buy one although I would take a more beaten up one as a filler in a swap or for dirt cheap lol
