I've been building up a pile of discarded coins lately, ones in such a poor shape that their value is below their base metal value. The question is what to do with them?
The few ideas I came up with so far are:
1. Recycle bin
2. sell to scrap yard for metal value
3. Acid+electrolysis to separate base metals (just for the fun of it)
Any other ideas?
Art projects, treasure chests, some kind of decorations maybe? Whatever comes to mind post it here! :)
Bury them in an old jar and smile in satisfaction as you image the look on a child's face who finds them 100 years later. Put a note in with them to say hello from 2013.
Non illegitimis carborundum est. Excellent advice for all coins.

I like this idea :)
I might do that with some other coins, but these particular coins are already in terrible shape, imagine what they'll be like in 100 years
Put them up on E-bay as an unsearched lot, possibly some silver/gold coins, put up a grainy photo so nobody can tell what condition the coins are in, then sit back and wait for the bids to roll in.

That's probably how he got them in the first place.

Although Neilithic is funny and sadly true, Cerulean is close to the mark. I have given many stainless steel pesos or British pennies to children hoping to "Start growing the next generation of coin collectors!".
I think every school teacher should have a bag of junk coins
Taking a break from swapping for a while, but still interested in pre 1799 Spanish coins, I will make time for that!
