Good day I have this coin which is supposed to weigh 5.67 g.

The coin I have weighs 5.75 g suggesting a different metal content perhaps more silver?

Please let me know if rare

Thanks

Hello,

It's not silver.

There is a weight tolerance of  +/- .227 grams

Look at this:

Washington ATB Quarter

.25

2010 - 2021

5.670

.227

5.443

5.897

75% Cu, 25% Ni

Your coin is at the higher end of the tolerance.

Thanks for the reply

You are welcome my friend.

There is a 900 silver version of this coin. It has a nominal weight of 6.25g. Your coin, as DSC07625 said is within the tolerance of the circulating version (+/- 4%) although typical variation is +/- 2%.  If you look at the edge you will see evidence of the copper core and the 75% Cu, 25% Ni cladding.

Here is a chart of actual measurements of these quarters:

Axccording to everything I could find,  Uncle Sam did not issue a 90% silver bicentennial quarter.

The silver issues were 40%.

The 90% silver coinage did not resume until 1982 when the George Washington half came out.

I got the weight tolerance from the website.

True. Not sure what that has to do with this 2015 coin though.

I got the weight tolerance from the website.

And you were correct. +/- .227 grams is exactly +/- 4%. In real life, 90-95% made will fall within ½ of that value.

Hello

5.75 grams is standard weight of the 40% silver bicentennial quarter so that is where that came from.

My brain sometimes works in strange ways.

No problem. I get myself wrapped around the axle too sometimes until somebody else unwraps me. The important thing is the correct information gets passed along in the end.
