Your are correct. It is fake. Carson City Mint opened in 1870 and could not make this coin in 1842. Also, IN GOD WE TRUST didn't appear on any US coin in 1842.

Yes fake, I will go out on a limb and say that if you have any more American coins in that collection which are big and silver coloured, they are probably also fake, like the others in your other post. Sorry for the disappointment. This one is also 99% not made of silver either.
