Hello everyone! I have this 1 rupee from java and i wanted to know if it is real. I have suspicions that it is fake because instead of it being 23 mm in diameter and 11,55 grams it is 25 mm in diameter and 10,05 grams. could anyone please verify that it is real?
Larger and lighter is sometimes a good indicator of your suspicion.
If it was smaller & lighter, it would make sense, like if the edge is no longer reeded, many times these coins have been shaved.
All the markings for this first year of the series 1813 Ropij seem to be right and under the British Administration there were many inconsistencies. They may even have used a host coin which was fairly common to add to the inconsistency. Best thing to do is send it in to NGC to be graded/verified.
Do you collect these?

Hello and thanks for the reply! And no, i do not collect these. I only bought it for the interesting history! I probably won’t send it to ngc, but if i got it graded and it was real what do you think it would be worth?
