2 Euro coin – minting error or post-mint damage [gelöst]

Hello everyone,

I recently found this 2 Euro coin (see attached photos). The inner core looks misaligned and has lost its normal design, and there are also signs of oxidation.

Do you think this could be a genuine minting error, or is it more likely just post-mint damage (wear/corrosion or someone tampering with it)?

Sorry if I posted this in the wrong section.

Thank you in advance for your help!

Someone had a lot of fun with that coin, for reasons only known to them. It's PMD.

Hello and welcome to Numista!

Yes, as you've already been told, it's PMD.

Someone removed the middle, machined off the brass cladding exposing the nickel core then replaced it into the outer ring about 180° rotated.  Neither of those two things could possibly happen at the mint.

Thank you all for your answers. It was actually my mistake – I found the missing piece in the pocket of some old trousers. At least the coin itself is a commemorative edition, so that’s something!
