Just wondering, opinions on if this mercury dime would be considered having Full Bands?

Greetings.  Since Full Bands is a grading designation, the opinion is up to the TPG (Third Party Grading service) who would potentially grade the coin as to whether a dime qualifies or not.

In all 3 cases from the TPG's below, your example would be disqualified from receiving the FB designation due to the lack of separation in the middle bands.

(1)  PCGS
https://www.pcgs.com/news/what-are-full-bands-mercury-dimes

  • Key statement from PCGS:  "In all cases, there must be no interruption of the separation of the subject crossbands, including marks, gouges, nicks, or other surface imperfections."

(2)  NGC
https://www.ngccoin.com/news/article/6812/learn-grading-dimes

  • Key statement from NGC:  "To qualify for NGC's Full Bands (FB) designation, the two central bands (seen at the center of the coin) must show full separation (with a recessed area between them). The top and bottom groups of bands must also show separation."

(3)  CAC
https://www.cacgrading.com/grading-standards

  • Key statement from CAC:  "Fully split bands are the product of a well-struck coin. The bands must remain uninterrupted from weakness or having disqualifying contact marks."
