if you mean the number itself - it's a code created by Krause and Mishler ("KM#") for their
World Coins catalogs. The catalog is structured into countries from A-Z and subcategories (currency
reforms, special coinage etc.). Each country has it's own code numbering starting with a #1 (in the early
past). "KM#"-numbering is widely used throughout the Internet and acknowledged by Numismatists across
the world. Other catalogs use different code numbering (like SS#, F#, DH#, W# etc.), some countries
in the world coins catalogs still use a Y# and C# (for older coins) numbering.
