Verweis : "Fluke"I am lost, what is the question?Hi, Thank you.
Welcome to the Forum
(confidential) miniatures are perfect reproductions of the real coins, coined in a miniature coining press, a replica at 1/4 scale of the well known Ralph Heaton (1891), and was mainly utilized as "gifts". Some of the miniatures (5mm to 7mm) coins are now very rare. In this first catalogue I show my own collection (1946 to 1987), with some complet annual series.
Verweis : "Clops!"Now that's interesting. I never knew about miniature coins.Probably in Germany. Other countries, as US, Germany, as made miniature coins generally as toys or pieces of games. Thse coins are much less sofisticated and some times they are for advertising purposes...
But then again, I did wonder about the German 3 Marks I have that is smaller than a dime. Were these made also?
Verweis : "pietr"Very interesting. The miniature coins of INCM Lisbon (gold, silver, bronze, brass, are now very rare mainly those before 1980. The series were coined since 1938/9 until 1987, as far as I Know. Detailed information and catalogue in my book :
Never heard about that, neither that the INCM produced these coins.
Shall this mini-coins be considered as tokens? Apparently, its issuing was not stable, and not so many exists.
Keep up the good research on that field!
Those portuguese miniature coins are common here in Brazil, I see they often here and there.
I would like to know if some of them are just modern mini-replicas, otherwise they are not rare at all. And would be nice to know how to check the autenticity.

This is Play Money. There are many different once, some with their own design, some emmulating coins that were issued. The Aschoff Guide lists many of these Play Money. I myself have quite a few.
I am just starting to organize my years long collection of tokens. I have quite a few miniatures. Most are gold coin miniature replicas. They are strange and cool at the same time.

Most are gold coin miniature replicas.
Do you mean that they are gold replicas of non-gold coins, non-gold replicas of gold coins, or gold replicas of gold coins?
Curious to see some.
These are all “gold colored “ replicas of US and Mexican coins as well as “silver colored “ replicas of US coins. I am cataloging a bunch of misc. tokens that I found in a box that I forgot about 20 years ago.

Cool! Could you post some pictures of these?
@jorge36 I added your catalogue to the our literature list:
Moedas miniaturas da casa da moeda – Numista
It would be nice if you could add a pdf of your book so that it will always be available, even when the blurb-website would disappear.
Maybe you also can add some of your pictures to the relevant Numista pages (both as examples for the different years and as missing coinpage-pictures).
Thanks Jörge
I made a change request to have the pdf added for future reference 😀
Now I just have to collect all the coins included 🤩

Hi Bram,
I'm sending today a letter with my few doubles for you and a alluminium flan (rare) from Casa da Moeda / Lisbon.
+ a special phograph of the miniature press in action during the 1982 Porto exhibition.
Another good adress for miniature coins in Lisbon is: “Memorias do tempo” / antiques and collectables / Calçada do Combro, 63 /1200-11 Lisbon.

Thanks a lot for a late Christmas gift! 😍🎅
When I get them, I'll post pictures here, together with the rest of my Portuguese pieces, and add some more pictures to our catalogue.
As there was no swap, I'll need to do a public review on Jörge. He sent me 5 great pieces, that now almost complete my type collections of the basic metals of Portuguese miniatures from the mint.
1 escudo 1985, 2x 25 escudos 1982 (so 1 for swap for other miniatures) and a tiny medal and an aluminium flan!
Just to give you an idea of the size of them, here next to a regular 25 escudos … they all have space to spare if they took a ride on top of it 😉
So for now I've 10 pieces, still some dates to complete and some brass, silver and gold versions … though they might be a bit too hard to get hold of. When you look at the pictures, remember they are between 7mm and 10mm … so they are half the diameter of a US cent!
