Numista page for P# 234 (https://en.numista.com/catalogue/note202408.html) lists serial number varieties that are not in Pick or Bank Note Museum. Note is indicated as being on lilac-tinted paper without UV activity or white paper with UV activity. The lilac paper is indicated as having prefix letters to serial number BIG, BIG while the white paper is indicated as having serial number prefix of BIG, small or small, BIG. This note that I found has UV activity so I assume it is white paper but am I right that the serial number prefix is BIG, BIG, which should only be on lilac-tinted paper. Should I add as another variety?

Bank Note Museum distinguishes between the papers although I can't really tell the difference on their photos. And they do not mention serial number varieties (http://www.banknote.ws/COLLECTION/countries/EUR/SOV/SOV0234.htm). SCWPM has same descriptions as Bank Note Museum.

It is always a problem when some distinguish e.g. "ehite paper" and "brown paper", since it's often hard to tell of you only have one of the varieties, and are therefore unable to compare. Same with if it has "UV activitiy" or not. What do I do if I don't have a UV light (which I don't)? Then I cannot check and confirm.

What I do can tell is that your serial number definitely BIG BIG.

Cheers!
Thanks for replying, ngdawa. I have confirmed the UV with a light so I will assume it is white paper and submit a new variety for the BIG, BIG serial number. I have 4 of the notes and all have UV activity on reverse.

This should be added to the banknote page ASAP! Great information, cheers!

Also, in my experience, serial numbers starting with Я are replacements. This goes for Mongolia, so I it's te same with Russia/USSR.
