Hi guys, my goal is to get a coin from every country and checking the numista catalogue it seems that Micronesia and Kosovo haven't ever minted any coins. Just wondering if there are any alternatives for those two countries or if I should just skip them.

Adam
Euro in use in Kosovo and USD in Micronesia.
However, Micronesia is known for its stone money, so happy collecting! You're going to need a bigger treasure box though...

Thanks for the quick response! Stone money certainly seems interesting but I think I might have a tough time getting my hands on any of it haha.

You’ve got a similar goal as mine in mind. Also I posted a tread a couple of weeks ago regarding fantasy coins that depicts real countries.

Back to your question Kosovo has not minted any coins as of yet (but did issue banknotes in the late 90s) but Micronesia and Kosovo does exist on fantasy coinage so maybe you can buy those instead.👍
Hi to whoever is reading this. Did you know that TYPEWRITER (on a QWERTY keyboard) is the longest word you can type using only the letters on one row of the keyboard.
Ok I'll have a look! As Kosovo is a fairly new country I still have hope that it may release something in the future.
The government of the Federated States of Micronesia never issued coins. There are only some Exonumia - https://en.numista.com/catalogue/index.php?r=micronesia&ct=exonumia

Partially recognized Kosovo has never issued coins as well. There are only some Exonumia as well - https://en.numista.com/catalogue/index.php?r=kosovo&ct=exonumia
Thanks! They look like they would fit alright in my collection so I'll have a look and see if I can get any.
I have an eight-coin 2012 Micronesia set ...

Hi, do you mind telling me where you got that set?

This site has the Micronesia set. jfvcoins is out at the moment, but it may come back to them too.

More than likely from eBay, five years ago. Including many other countries ...

Will take me a few days to find out the seller. I looked on eBay (UK) just now,
and there are no 2012 Micronesia sets currently on there.

This was on US ebay

Hope it’s helpful

iirc someone posted a picture with one of those giant stone coins in reddit saying they inherited it from their grandfather. I was super excited to find out people have those but then I noticed it was posted on april 1. And a closer inspection of the picture made me realise that was probably a tourist spot (8
Hey guys, thanks for the responses!
almost $30 for fake coins minted at Chinese private mints? people investing in these hoping for a future gold mine will have a dire awakening

I think people buy it because of the design but we will never know I’m just waiting till one of the countries issue their own currency.

I understand people have a desire to aquire these coins as they are accessible, and have surprisingly good quality, but the more people buy them, the more market gets flooded with them. Also, a lot of novice collectors think these will be a good investment but it's quite the contrary, only a fraction of collectors are interested in these and it's easier to buy them then to get rid of them. And they age like milk

You're right about people thinking that those are for investing. People just like them what you mentioned earlier.
