1 Tari (20 Grana) - Carlos II Naples - 1699 - error, variant, or something else? [gelöst]

I have this Neopolitan Tari from 1699, The legend is meant to read 'HISP·ET·NEAP' but mine looks like 'NPAP'. Am I imagining things or is this a minting error?

It looks like a minting error, probably caused by a chipped die. Meaning there should be other coins from the same batch displaying the same error.

CNI which usually has prolific listings of variants, has only two for this type (CNI Vol XX, p.520, #351-352)., neither showing a spelling variant.

A look through hits on acsearch also does not show this die chip (but only a half dozen examples are there).

When you compare that E with the other E and the P, it's obvious it's not a misspelling. The arrow shows a small piece of extra metal between the two upper bars of the E.

​You're right, it's definitely an 'E' with an extra piece, but I still can't find this error mentioned anywhere.
