Found this coin in my register the other day. I saved it because it looked like a proof, and now I've been told it's a small date 1970 s Lincoln cent. I think it does look like a small date, but I would appreciate some second opinions, thanks.
I looks like a moderately circulated proof coin because It doesn’t look shiny (could be due to poor lightning conditions) but Lincoln has that cameo finish so it is a proof.

Sorry I’m still new on a varieties so you would need to leave the date for the professionals to help.
Hi to whoever is reading this. Did you know that TYPEWRITER (on a QWERTY keyboard) is the longest word you can type using only the letters on one row of the keyboard.
Looks like the large date to me

Not easy to tell though, the end of the 9 looks like it’s diagonal rather than at a 90 degree angle but the 9 is a little blurry on many

only other way I can tell is the 7 going below the 0 which I think it looks like it does in two of the three
It is a large date.

Zoom in on the white line.
Here is a small date (level 7):

Here is a large date (low 7):

Here is your coin:

Your coin has a low 7.

Also, probably not a proof. There were 690 million in circulation. 1970 proof coins did not have cameo finishes.

Will,

you're in the US, but you are not the owner of an "The Official Red Book? You can buy it here

https://www.amazon.com/Guide-Book-United-States-Coins/dp/079484796X/ref=sr_1_2?dchild=1&keywords=red+book+coins&qid=1619688989&s=books&sr=1-2

You'll find nearly all the known variants in this rather cheap book. I can highly recommend it. 16 bucks, only.

I agree. There are two clear ways to determine whether it's a small or large date. The height of the 7 (as rsirian1 already said) and look at the 9. If the loop of the 9 bends sharply toward the 7, it is a small date. When the 9 is angled toward the top of the mintmark, it is a large date. You can see both differences clearly on your picture:

The red book is something that's been on my list to pick up, I ordered one yesterday. But I do still enjoy the feed back on these forums. Part of the fun in finding nice coins is having folks to share it with 😁
You're absolutely right in that:O
