Hello all!
I have recently developed a love of collecting French coins.
Particularly the 1815 French ones - due to the political intrigue surroiud the 100 days of Napoleon.
With that in mind,
Does anyone have a definitive list of coins made during this year?
For example,
I already own the 20 Francs Napoleon and the 2 Francs.
However, I am struggling to work out what denominations exist.
I am aware that there is smaller coins simply with N or L on them and even a Louis gold francs with a London mint mark.
I am not bothered about which specific mints made them, unless there is significance to them (for example, the above London mint mark example)
If someone could link me to, or even write up, a list of denominations available, id be grateful.
my aim is to create an '1815 France' complete set.
If you go to the catalog and go to France and then search 1815, this is what you will find. Not a all inclusive but it is a good start. That's quite an ambitious goal. Good luck with it.
From the search provided by @harryg, if you exclude the patterns and are just going for a type set, it looks like just 7 coins, so you are 29% complete!
Napoleon 2 Francs 1815
Napoleon 5 Francs 1815
Napoleon 20 Francs 1815
So far, these appear the hardest to get!
Thank you so much for all the advice!
I will use the online list here provided to begin with, then move on to the addition resources others have added!
Thanks a lot!
Joe.
