First, could someone point me in the right direction for a glossary of terms for coins and the condition of coin terminology. Second, could someone explain how I would go about grading the condition of coins that I already own? Such whether they in poor, good or very good condition?
Thank you. I don't know why I didn't look there first! As a beginner I'm suffering from brain overload. Well that's my excuse. Old age might be another!😕
It takes a while to get the hang of accessing a coin's condition. Be patient & if you haven't already tried, I suggest you get some rolls from the bank and put them in a jar and start practicing. I know that may sound odd to some but there's nothing like going through it & actively doing it in order to get some of the terms firmly set in the back of your mind. You have to practice inspecting coins & looking for flaws & understanding what type of circulation the coin has been through before you get the hang of it. It's a really important part to collecting (which a lot of people sadly skip or dismiss) & can knowing what to look for can really save you money in the long run.
