I am new to coin collecting and new Numista. I have a small diverse collection of around 50 coins that have been sitting in a draw for many years so I decided to start my coin collecting hobby with these coins.

It has been suggested to me to use Numista Collection function to keep inventories of my coins. So following the step-by-step guide I created some categories of coins for what I already have and what I want to collect in future. Where I need help is adding my coins to my collections. I found finding examples of my first coin in Numista laboriously long but once found I easily add my coin with out a problem. My concern is that if it is going to take a laborious search each time to find my coins then my inventory is going to take a very long time to complete. I'm I doing something wrong when searching for examples of my coins? Is there quicker way of locating examples of my coins on Numista?

Any help will gratefully received.
Without knowing how you're searching it's hard to answer your question. If you're not I would suggest using the filters as much as possible. I usually add filters in this order if known:
1. Country
2. Year
3. Face value (just the number)
4. Lettering
5. Diameter
6. Weight
7. Shape

Usually 1. and 2. alone will limit the results to manageable size. Use the ones you know and see what that returns. Add more as needed.
Thank you for your advice. I will do as you have suggested.
You could try using an app like coinoscope to identify the coins far more quickly.
Once you know what exactly it is, finding it on Numista is way faster.

edit.
It's a very useful tool for modern world coins, but it can struggle with ancient, worn or damaged coins.

Thank you that looks a good idea. Is there a PC based application that will do the same thing?
I found this link to be very helpful to get you in the general direction of country of origin for modern world coins. Hope this helps.
