Hello Numista,
I have here what has been identified to me as an Ippyo Daikoku Hori Esen. I have a few questions about it that someone may be able to answer. Would anyone more knowledgeable in Esen or Japanese coinage happen to know more about its purpose, date (era?), or possible catalog reference? Hartill hasn't been too helpful here. I've posted a picture of the coin and any info I have about it.

Thanks for reading and I hope you have a great day. :O

E-sen or picture coins were used as many things like as amulets, for games and gambling or simply as art. Your particular item with the God of Wealth was most likely a good look charm for a person or a newly built house. Most of them are from the Edo period and onwards.

But I if you wanted to use a Hartill reference I would use DHJ#7.62
Hey Idolenz,

I appreciate the information! I'm going to leave this forum open just in case anyone else has any more info on the unknown K-152 reference for this E-sen.

Thanks again,
Harrison
