Good afternoon everyone. First of all I'd like to apologize for my rusty english. As a Brazilian I'm not a native speaker.
I need you guys to help me identify this coin I bought. A 1997 british pound with the Welsh Dragon on the reverse. According to Numista the Welsh Dragon One Pound were only made in 1995. Mintage seems to be pretty bad, kinda blurry. I'm almost sure it is a counterfeit, the problem is I couldnt find anything about this type of counterfeit from 1997, only 1996.

Yes, a counterfeit. The forgers quite often put the wrong obverse date with the wrong reverse design.
Only coin collectors, not the general public, would usually know which belong together.
I would guess the edge is also poorly done.
Token collector [1600-1899] with some coins
Yes it is definitely a counterfeit coin.

The 1997 1 Pound coin should look like this ....

I have also got a 1997 Counterfeit coin but it is different to yours. It has the reverse from the 1996 Northern Ireland Celtic Cross.

There were lots of these cointerfeit coins around and is one of the reasons that the Royal Mint switched to the 12 Sided one pound coin.

Modern Forgery is a better classification.
