I have shown this coin before. I know it's not proof but a new friend I have has been collecting for 40 years. He thinks these Kennedys are possibly MS67 quality at least MS65. There are 20 of them and basically clones of each other. I am thinking of getting one or two graded. Opinions? The lighting I have is the best I can do at night.
Unless you have one that seems pretty much flawless, I wouldn't have any sent in. Most will come back as a 66 or a 65 which won't make the grading worth the cost.
Thanks AG for the advice. It would be worth it to me because I paid a very low price on them. Thanks Steve. I tried looking at the pcgs link before you sent that and it's hard to tell from theirs because of toning. These coins do not have any toning on them and shine like a mirror but not polished. The guy I bought them from claimed they were kept in a bank deposit box for decades. On a few coins, there are fingerprints or skin oil smudges. Would it be okay to use water and a very mild soap to get those off or just send them all in like they are for grading?
yes, and then its done, and you will be glad to have them.
you may never break even, but you can solidify your holdings.
And we dont know what the future will bring.

There are millions of these near perfect coins floating around - I have dozens of BU rolls - they are worth melt plus $1 - save your money - even if they come back MS-70, you will never break even - no demand - everyone who wants one already has it - the price guides are a fantasy.
I appreciate everyone's opinions. I still want to get one or two graded because I am curious if it's MS67. I can see what some are saying though about chasing a fantasy. I even believe to an extent professional grading is just an opinion and will change among graders. Even though millions of them were minted, NGC (as an example) has graded very few that obtain MS67 or higher. In my original post, I said a new friend has been collecting for around 40 years. He said he thinks their MS67 quality and rare to see a Kennedy in that type of condition. He doesn't trust coin grading but insist I send off one or two because of their look compared to other "BU" coins floating around. Thanks again!
Hi.
Imo the coins are superb.
Grading I would try 2 through anacs first, not necessarily best example, then would wait return graded coins . If ms67+ from anacs?
Then best of lot I would send to pcgs/ NGC and pay higher feesBeautiful coin btw.
Good luck.
I collect all, but along the years managed to get some sarcophagus also ,so 2× 2 don't feel lonely.
Reason I do it? Was a good price at that time and guess as an hermit , not believing in holding paper or owning luxury goods, thought was a good idea😀.
Yes it does feel good having highest graded coins, were population that grade ms68-ms67+ only ++6 known examples.
Surely you don't follow heritage/ great coin collection for achieved prices.
Each to his own👍
Be safe.
Since you have a large number of these coins, I would recommend submitting them to ANACS. Then I would take the coins which grade MS67 or higher, crack them out, and submit them to PCGS. In other words, use ANACS as a filter in order to save money.
