Colleagues, does anyone know what is this?

Looks like toy notes from Belgium.

"Toy notes" with individual serial numbers printed under pressure on both sides.
Yes, yes, I believe.
p.s. If you don't know, then why are you fantasizing?

Because it is a very plausible explanation based on the design and the printing quality ...

I did find a reference in our local (Belgian) numismatic archives that describes a similar item.
"1. Belgische private munt
"
This collector of numismatic curiosa owns 20 Frank note from 12.03.1936 with the text « Staatsbank» and «Banque de l'État» and which is marked «Children's toy»

So not exactly the same, but based on the fact that it had exactly the same date and text it is quite likely it derives from the same toy set. Maybe you can also type out the text on the note that is not readable on your scan to help us determine the origins.

Please add the note to the exonumia section (fantasy banknotes), together with the information we have been able to find until now (incl. the probable existence of a 20 frank one)

No new swaps for the moment, still too many half-ongoing swaps to clean up!

Thanks for the detailed answer and the attached file. Perhaps you`re right. But the serial numbers confuse me. Serial numbers on banknotes are needed to track its movement and accounting. Also, the serial number can be a "security feature". Why print serial numbers on banknotes for children game? The numbers are printed straight, without tilt, in accordance with the sides of the paper. The edges of the notgeld are even and straight. This is not handmade. Numbering and cropping were done in the printing house.
Let's try to go from the other side. Which toy manufacturers existed in Belgium in the 1930s?

They clearly wanted to make the play money look as real as possible, including "serial numbers" (too short to be real!) and all the typical references to laws (reproduction is punishable by forced labour) and redeemabilty ("exchangeable at view") that you find on the real notes of the period. The big difference is probably size (please measure, but probably quite small), the text "Miniature Works, Liège, Belgique" (maybe referring to the manufacturing company in Liège, I did not find anything online but please keep on looking) and the clear images of children and children playing shop on either side.

It's not clear what more proof you're looking for. Just remember that toys in those days were of better quality than what you find nowadays. Have a look at the adorable Lauer coins (all just 13mm !!!) that were made, the material maybe not always made to last (plated iron), but with very detailed reproductions of ALL denominations. Also available in other countries (switzerland, UK, ...)

I have almost the full set of Belgian toy coins (1c, 2c, 10c, 1fr, 2fr, 5fr) and in slightly better quality (to still add on here!), so I would for sure like to make a swap for these toy notes to add to the set and give you some real ones in exchange :wiz:

With some extra searching did find a trace of the toy "company". Marcel Beyers was a grocer who started making miniatures of all major products as kid toys or for doll houses. They almost identical to the real ones.

He also made some miniature coins (p. 207 in this catalogue), but no reference to the notes.

I guess now we can be 100% sure of the origin B)

I'll just leave it here :D

Noticed you put them up for sale after all (http://collectwith.me/download/file_38468 , http://collectwith.me/download/file_38467).

After the information you got, could you please take your time to add them to the catalogue with all necessary details (incl. dimensions) before selling them off?
Here's the direct link: https://en.numista.com/catalogue/contributions/nouveau.php?type=exonumia&subtype=fantasy_banknote

thanks for the contribution!

(and still wanting to swap ... at a reasonable price)

I did not know that it is allowed to publish direct links to products here. I can explain the price. Coins (tokens) are known and often found. Here is token from an American seller for 26 USD https://www.ebay.com/itm/114910594754
Paper money from this series are extremely rare. The rarer the item, the higher the price.

(I'll fill out the card now)

And I'm ready to swap. But I will not changes for something that no one needs. I'm interested in French Indochinese banknotes, North Korea, early Burma, some Indonesian banknotes (error notes and test notes), Russia 500000 rubles 1995, Belgian Congo. I am open to suggestions and ready to consider any options. The possibility of exchanging for real money is also not excluded))
