Shipping to Hungary

Hi everyone, I have just recently moved to Hungary (Budapest) and I am wondering if international shipping from other countries like Austria or Germany are allowed or not. I am not really sure if the local post company allows shipping of coins, I don´t speak the local language at all.

If it is allowed, does anyone has any experience receiving shippings here? I am not a resident, could be that a problem? Are there other considerations or advice that you may provide?

Best regards,

Martín
Surprised no one answered this so I'll do my best although I don't live in Hungary (but I do speak the language). Shipping within the EU shouldn't be a problem although, as far as I know, shipping coins is not allowed. This doesn't stop ebay, auction houses or anyone else from shipping coins and the post office most likely won't check the contents of your package. If asked just say you're sending or receiving tokens or collectables. The only possible problem I can think of is if you're not home and have to pick up your package at the post office showing non-Hungarian id but I'm sure there's a procedure for that. In Croatia that's no problem since your name is written on the package arrival notice the post office leaves at your address so any id with your name is enough to pick up the package, I guess Hungary has a similar system.
I collect and deal in ancient Roman coin. In case you're looking for affordable ancient coins or need any help with the coins you already have send me a message.
Thanks a Lot! Really helpful!
Hello,
to my knowledge - even though not in a special context with Hungary - the sending of cash, be it current currency or collectors coins is not prohibited as such in the European Union. I have also never been asked what is inside a letter or parcel - except for the CN22 customs form when sending to outside of the European Union. But also there are ways of not declaring incorrectly, but in the same time not being fully transparent.....
It might though be a question of insurance, which in many shipping options is not covering valuables like cash, precious metals or other highly fungible items.
Best wishes
in the end everything will be good - if it's not good, then it's not the end...
