Visually it is indicated KG is not visible and perhaps not included at manufacture. Is this a known indication? Thoughts and opinions appreciated

I haven't come across this before ... I'm thinking maybe a die fill error?

I'm not sure what you mean by 'the KG simply wasn't there'?

The 'Y.' and 'K.G' signifies Perth mint but the standard'KG' initials show Melbourne mint. The OP's coin has no 'KG' visible but it should be present.
Again, many thanks to all who have taken the time to respond, it is appreciate. Have attempted all manner of magnification, together with placing other coins with KG alongside and every now and then, when able the eyes focus correctly, see what could be a small hump, but then the hump gets humped!! The image below posted on a FB site indicates there is a variation within the 1941 penny, which is indicated as "Common" and being "KG missing from Reverse". Source of the document , or content cannot be ascertained nor verified. Maybe someone here can recognise the document and advise. Thanks again and stay safe

FYI, page extract as previously referred has been indicated as having been taken from the following publication. Stay safe

Does the author distinguish somewhere between a coin variety and a coin error in his listings?
auscoin, understand the intent of your question, unfortunately, only have an image for the book reference and respective page

From the same author there's also a catalog about Australian error coins (https://eshop.ramint.gov.au/renniks-australia-pre-decimal-decimal-coin-errors) so you should think he makes a separation between varieties and errors. But in that shown page are also a lot of errors, like die-cracks and cuds.

Edit: look at the bottom of the next pictures (red rectangle):
