More amd more I am facing strict exchange rules of some members: silver v.s silver; gold v.s. gold etc.

It means- will You never swap 5eur worth silver coin for 30eur worth nickels, coppers or aluminiums? For me it is just ridiculus...

It makes me smile and somehow I can not take these swap statements serious!
Why?
Because every coin has its value (crause, e-bay- does not matter) and aim is- to make swap +/- even from both sides.

Any other oppinion are wellcome!
Every single coin on the world should meet its collector!
It's a very simple risk hedging I suppose. The coin value is a combination of intrinsic value and collector's value (both are made-up like any value in the world ... some more some less subjective).
If coin collection goes the way of stamps where you had let's say a 1000 dollar collection one day and a near 0 dollar collection a few years later you wouldn't have that with precious metal coins where you have a secondary source of "value".
Maybe if you swap 1 g silver content vs 30.83 g nickel content they might consider (1 kg Nickel - 25.25 $, 1 kg Silver - 778.7 $)?
But I guess the collectors value of Nickel content coins far overshadows that of the metal value, far less so in silver coins. x.
What makes me smile are the people who only ask for silver and gold with absolutely no silver or gold to offer but plenty of modern base metal junk to offer.
I sort of understand from both sides. I get precious metals have a secondary value, but I don’t understand why a person would restrict themselves to just trading for the same material.

For example if I had a UK 1983 “New Pence” 2p these are valued in proof condition at £1200.00 I really don’t think anyone would seriously consider not making up a similar amount of silver coins to trade. So why should it be the other way, the trade has to be of benefit to both parties. If someone has a silver coin worth £50, why should they not consider looking at a person swaps to make up a similar value (regardless or material) in coins they need. If they’re not happy or don’t need any they don’t have to commit to the trade.

We trade coins here not precious metals as raw materials, and as they are coins they should not be considered as raw materials in a trade.
I don't have a large amount of silver to trade with, but what I do have I don't mind trading for non silver because I want what I want, and yhat may not be a silver coin...
I only trade silver for silver because I have a silver hoard - some US coins, some foreign coins, some metal bars. I want to keep this amount of silver. However, I would prefer it to be in unique coins for my collection. I would like to trade a bunch silver that is part of my hoard for silver that would go into my collection. I will still have the same amount of silver in my hoard, but now it is also filling holes in my collection.
It more so that you can filter out the chaff, but i'm somewhat doubt that rare copper or base metals coins are going to be traded through here. I also there probably a knowledge difference between people who have or have dealt with silver coins not wanting to deal with the newer collectors not really understanding the trade they are asking for.

Is there anything your looking to trade thats base metal for silver?
