Does anyone have photos of these or can explain where the differences show up?

Is it an overprint?

Every one I have seen has ZSZ but its not clear if over printed or exactly what.

There is no listing for just a ZSZ.

Need to know how to tell the difference.

Thank you

Please look at the reverse on top, where you'll find the letters you talk about and in the article in numista you'll see, what it all means….

Welcome to Numista. I agree that this detail / error could use clarification and is not well documented in any of the reference material I could find. This is just a guess through extrapolation because I could not find a photo of this error coin but I believe it to be this. The First ZS will always be in the reference material as it was minted at the Zacatecas mint. The letter S MAY be missing following ZS in the reference material due to a worn die or grease blockage for instance. Thus showing only Z Z instead of the normal ZsZ. Interestingly, I was able to find this photo of a doubled S error on an 1891 10 c.

Thank you for your reply.  I have an 1888 ZsZ but a plain ZsZ is not listed anywhere.  All listings I can find just list  Zs ZsZ and Zs ZZ.

Apparently, as you indicated,  the first Zs in these listings just indicate the mint and the following ZsZ and ZZ  indicate the full mint mark.

I collect Mexico by date and mint

Thanks again for your help.
