Anyone ever hear of a Timberlane Arcade?  I can't locate any information on it and wanted to buff up my listing.

PROBABLE MIDWEST LOCATIONS

The following list is of unidentified
video arcade tokens which usually show
up in midwest arcade junk boxes. They
are probably from Iowa, Illinois,
Indiana, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota,
Missouri, North Dakota, Ohio, South
Dakota, or Wisconsin. Please check
telephone books and directories from
these states and report any tokens you
are able to attribute.

Maybe it is/was in Louisiana or Illinois.

Awesome Zac!  Thanks!

Yeah I looked up towns called Timberlane but can't find anything definitive.  I appreciate your help!

Actually, I'm now very interested in this TAMS business.  Maybe I can join, I've really come to love tokens and such.  I really love my domestic and foreign coins but I'm starting to reach into the more expensive realm of collecting and tokens help me find enjoyment in between those.

I'll report back!

I'm going to confidently say that it's from an arcade Tallahassee, Florida in the early 1980's.

Based on ads and classified in the Tallahassee Democrat from 1981 and 1983, the Timberlane Arcade was located in the Timberlane Shops (or Timberlane Shops-on-the-Square), a strip mall in Tallahassee located at 1415 Timberlane Rd. The arcade was in Unit 11 and the owners were listed as P.M. Daughtery and R.V.  Davis. There's no mention of what happened to the place after 1983, but that was the year of a large crash in the video game industry so it's not too much of a reach to speculate that the place may have been one of many arcades that went under.

The mall is still there (now called Market Square) though based on Google Street View it looks like it's seen better days. Unfortunately, it seems that the numbering of the buildings has changed over the years, so I couldn't find a picture of the exact location.

Hope this helps!

Impressive digging!  Thank you so much!  What a great ad too, 8 games for a dollar, what a deal :)

Is the resource you used to find this information public?  Can I use it in the citation for my token listing?

I did the search through newspapers.com which is requires that you pay them. But the items here originally appeared in the Tallahassee Democrat on November 14, 1981 for the classified notice and April 5, 1983 for the ad.
