swaps in the US [gelöst]

Hello,

inspired by comparable approaches, I try my luck with the following idea:

I plan to be in the US in October. Knowing that many collectors in the US are hesitant to swap with overseas,

and as I myself became quite reluctant due to increasingly uneasy customs people and significantly increased postage rates just recently,

it might be a chance to facilitate one or the other swap.

I do have a permanent address for 10 days, but as this is a hotel, I would not really trust to receive mail there, I might consider to use General Delivery at the local post office to receive letters.

A few questions:

- are there any reasons speaking against General Delivery?

- How much is the usual way to send lets say 3 or 4 ounces of swapped coins within the US, meaning is it worth the hassle…?

- and last but not least: is there interest at all to swap with me that way (details to be discussed once someone is found).

Best wishes from Germany!

in the end everything will be good - if it's not good, then it's not the end...

Greetings!  Hope you enjoy your visit!!

I've never had problems with a few ounces of coins put inside an envelope usually between something like a greeting card.  They should be flat.

The rates increased recently:

1oz

 $        0.99

2oz

 $        1.23

3oz

 $        1.47

3.5oz

 $        1.71

4oz

 $        1.92

5oz

 $        2.16

6oz

 $        2.40

Note that these include the surcharge for “non-machinable” items.  You might be able to get away with not including that but, to me, it's not worth the 30 odd cents.

You have some coins and exonumia I'm interested in, I'd love a swap!

Thank you for this reply. PM sent.

Call or email the hotel amd ask if you can receive mail to their address. Ask exactly what is the policy and ask how often do they receive mail for cusotmers.

Larger hotels in major cities accept mail for long-term cusotmers all the time. I've done this on business trips when I needed paperwork for a meeting etc etc. But some hotels dont want to deal with it, or they mean well but arent good at hamdling mail for customers. Better to check first.

Just one bump - will be the only one 😉

I'll swap. Do I have anything of interest?
