I thouth this coin was a double but when i looked closer i found a difference in the 6 number in the date.

Can it be a variety ?

Can it be fake ?

Any help would be appreciated.

Yes, the sixes are different. The top of different length. I didn't find it documented anywhere, but I only spent 10 minutes searching. Quite often such differences are not considered as variants, but just a die with a hand punched last digit, which is “normal” error. I and you don't afree upon with that, hence my offer below..

If you could send me hi-res images of the two coins, both sides, I can set up one of my usual documentations, of course you'll be mentioned.

I managed with what I had from you and numista! Do you agree?

This is the best i could do.

For me the “6 top” angle is different. It might be the length as well but the angle was what made the difference for me. One is going up like it should and the other is rotated to the right. I have seen similar different angles on other year coins of the 1860's.

normal 6 to me.

6 top seems rotated to me.

The last 1 in the date are in different places too

It is, what it is, or is it.

Right you are, but it's the same style.

Just an observation. Kind a like US mint marks pre 1982, all over the place. Or some were back then.

It is, what it is, or is it.
