A little background:
George Soley was a die sinker who worked for the US Mint. In 1875 he purchased the Mint's first steam press as scrap and he refurbished it so he could produce tokens. Along with the press, he also purchased collars from the Type 1 gold dollars (which were no longer being produced). Thus, these tokens can be readily identified as his work, because of the roughly 13mm size and the well crafted lord's prayer he placed on the reverse.
