Hi Numista. Just a point of clarification re Philippine 1-Piso, BSP Series. Link of the page, here:
The photo of the Reverse Die Type III (R3) included in the Comment section of the page reflects a wide date, which is consistent with R3. However, the serif in the “PIL” (of “PILIPINAS”) appears to be a WEDGE serif (foot of characters).
Based on my study, ALL R3s in ALL denominations have a SLAB serif ("E" in “SENTRAL,” “PIL” in “PILIPINAS” and “1” in “1993”). The three main variants of the 1-Piso Wide Type (see photo below) all have SLAB serif.

The R3 used in the numista page photo appears to be R3b (Wide/Thin), 2013. However, the photo reflects a wedge serif on the “PIL”. There are only two possibilities. One, there exists an R3 with a wedge serif (which I still have to see). Or, two, the wedge serif appeared when the photo was processed to make the features stand out. The second option is highly probable considering that the R3b has an extra thin slab serif, which may come across as a wedge serif. Also, please note that the upper serif is slab in the numista page photo (serif should be uniform in the upper and lower portions).
I would appreciate a clarification on that R3 photo in the numista page.
Thank you.
