I like the idea of each N# having its own Wiki page, talk page, and/or forum thread.
For example, I have been trying to collect Guyana 1c, N#4763 . I have obtained all of the years except two. I have also obtained a year that is not listed. I suspect there are no 1983s, even though 12 million were supposedly minted.
I'd like to post a thread saying that I am interested in the series, offering to buy coins of the years I lack, and requesting photos of the coins I believe don't exist. I could be wrong so I don't want to request changes to that page yet.
I also have a N#168334 in my collection. That coin is keyed here to “Mitch AC# 2382”. I'd like to add another catalog and a note. “Senior 102.121. (R. C. Senior believes Azes II did not exist and attributes all Azes coins to Azes I.)”. In ancient coinage, sometimes a coin is sometimes catalogued by two experts with different opinions. A talk or wiki page would be nice for this situation.
I feel like it would be straightforward to have each coin page include a button to search for forum threads linking to that page. Perhaps with a weekly batch process to count threads linking to that page, so users would know if the discussion had already started.
Alternatively, I feel like it would be straightforward to create a new forum, the "N#" forum. Ordinary users couldn't create threads there. A button on each coin page would create a thread for that N#, with title “N#<the number>”.
Alternatively, I feel like it would be possible to install Wiki software on en.numista.com, and create empty pages for each N# for users to collaborate on research. It would also be possible to link each N# to a 3rd party paid or free Wiki site. For example, someone could create numista.wikidot.com.
