I may not have a lot of coins that people don’t want  , but surely it’s not too much to expect a

Polite reply.  It’s an increasing trend ( more since lockdown) people just ignore the message.  I can’t remember last time I did a swap ..perhaps it’s me .

Ps I collect crown size coins .

I agree. I only joined Numista as some members have some coins I've been looking for in my collection that I can't find elsewhere. Some of them are actually marked as available to swap but despite multiple messages no replies. Is it necessary for me to input my collection of thousands of coins in order to be taken serious? I messaged what particular coins they're looking for to swap and I can add those into my Numista collection or if they wanted to outright sell it but again…crickets.

You need to pay attention also if those members are active. When you see that people have a coin to swap, there are different shades of blue, the pale ones are inactive. So they probably never read your messages. And it is rather hard to find a swapper only for a few specific coins, because it limits your swap opportunities to just a few people, out of those few people maybe 1 will be active, and he/she probably won't find anything in your collection to make a swap.

Thank you for the info. I am working on an American Samoa type set and some of the missing ones only 2 members in Numista “supposedly” have for swap. Nowhere else on the entire internet and planet Earth are they for sale. The hunt continues.

Maybe send the lin ks to the coins. Also, sometimes people click some random rare coins, but it does not mean that they actually have them.

Hi iiruig. I did as you recommended and saw that one member is actually in Ukraine and when looking at his profile saw that it says swaps temporarily suspended due to what's going on there. I understand on that one. I have ordered many coins from Ukraine lately through other platforms. The other member is as you have mentioned-most likely added them to his collection versus adding to his wishlist.

Yeah… It would be great if more people are willing to swap, in general. But the reality is that there are a few hundred, maybe thousand of swappers here. And if you are looking for a very specific niche, it will be hard to confirm a swap. There are a very few people that have some coins that I need too, but they are either not active, or just the swap value they ask is way beyond that I would agree on.

Swapping, or making a lot of swaps make sense when you search is rather broad, or when you collect very popular coins. I know that in Europe they swap a lot 2 Euro commemoratives. They get ones from their country every year, and swap them with other members from other countries. It is possible to get nice rare, silver or even gold coin swaps, but it is much less common.
