There are tons of coins with a coat of arms on one side and a reef on the other. That Latvian coin is true artistry, not to mention the outstanding toning.

#2 been voting for that coin from the start.
Taking a break from swapping for a while, but still interested in pre 1799 Spanish coins, I will make time for that!

Looking for pre 1783 coins
Even though the patina makes her look like a leper, she's actually supposed to be a very attractive young folk-maiden. I'm still not sure if that's a traditional folk hat or headband?

I found a picture of a real person dressing like that!

There are photos of hats and bands on-line for Latvian traditional wear, the question is specifically about this folk-maiden, is the top of her head visible or not in this particular design?

#2 - No way I would vote any other way.  :8D

Yes, it is a traditional Latvian head piece.

Is Milda wearing a hat or a crown, can you see hair on top of her head or is it covered?

#2 for its beauty.
#1 looks kind of boring in comparison.
1 got to love the Italian states !

As far as I know and remember, there is really only one kind - a head band. So it is open on the top but I've never heard it to be called a crown since it is mostly made of fabric. There are variations like on the coin where it is like a cylinder (with bottom and top rims of the same size) or slightly more open on the top side (like on the picture).

P.S. I've been proved wrong before.  :°

I saw an original 1931 coin for sale that has been re-silvered plus has gold added. Nice !
