While going thruge the Danish catalog I have stumpled upon two fake banknotes so far. One added as its own entry, but in the exonumia section, there is only the option for coin counterfit not banknotes.

Could we have a coin counterfit and banknote counterfit section? :)

The fake note in the Danish catalog, untill I can move it:

A good idea!

In some cases of older banknotes contemporary forgeries are the only known extant examples of a design available for study and collection.

Don't we have this already?

That's what happens, when I come up with good ideas at 11 at night 😅😂

I didn't think to look under Paper exonumia, due to the category called “Contemporary counterfit”. So maybe change it to “Coins counterfit” or something? 🤔

In Spanish is used the word “coins”, but in not French/English. I suggest changes:

  • (en)
Contemporary counterfeits → It can be renamed to: Contemporary counterfeit coins
    - Contemporary counterfeits → It can be renamed to: Contemporary counterfeit coins
    Paper exonumia
    - Contemporary counterfeits →  It can be renamed to: Contemporary counterfeit banknotes
  • (fr)
Faux d'époque →  It can be renamed to: Faux pièces d'époque
    - Fausses monnaies d'époque →  It can be renamed to: Faux pièces d'époque
    Parabilletophilie
    - Faux billets d'époque
  • (es)
    Monedas falsas de época
    - Monedas falsas de época
    Exonumia de papel
    - Billetes falsos de época
Wanted & swap list (euro coins & world coins, exonumia and banknotes circulated) https://goo.gl/AQjfKp - I have euro & world CC coins for swap.

Hi David,

In french you used "monnaies" not “Pièces” ;-)

Monnaie can be coins or notes, Monnaie = coin but also currency

It is true! I do not speech French. My error is because (fr) “monnaie” is similar to (es) “moneda” (a “false friend”), but now I remember I read “pièce” as “coin” in French help articles.

I modify my last message for suggest a new French text.

Is counterfeit also supposed to include Fantasy coins, where one side is of real coin?

I would say not - the purpose of a counterfeit is to deceive people into thinking they are real.

A fantasy coin is not intended to be passed as currency.

Must a counterfeit coin then ALWAYS have a date, which is real?

The issue of this topic is solved (actually has already been done), and I posted a new topic https://en.numista.com/forum/topic156455.html with the issue that both types had (and have) the same name and gave rise to confusion.
