Hello, please have a look, what do you think, are these real or fake? Found them in an antique shop, seller doesn't have a clue what they are, just says American coins 10$ a piece. Not possible to weight them or to make some acid test as owner doesn't allow to take them out of shop without buying them.

Walk in with a magnet, if they stick, they are fake. Check orientation, "Coin alignment ↑↓". They all look fake to me.
I think they are fake you could bring in your own weight scale.

Yes, they were all fake!

I didn't went anymore there, but thinking later at home and even matching my pictures with catalog ones and on the web, I found some differences, first all 4 of them were of the same size and diameter, all had reeded edges. While the medal alignment was ok on all of themThe Pattern Dollar alignment was with an angle, and even had a very very slight rust on some letters.

The eagle on the reverse of the flowing hair dollar was a weak struck, but all of them seemed well circulated! All were well worn, and this illuded me at first. Then when I tried to clean the pattern dollar at the shop with some water and cloth it didn't clean.

Than back home I thought what are the chances that a US pattern coin is well worn and reached in Albania?!

I am very surprised that Chinese fake coins entered Albanian market, had seen on the web fakes, but when seen real ones is totally different! They were all very nice at first sight! If I go again in that shop, if sell them all 4 to me for 10$ I will buy them :) since I can't afford the real ones...

Its not only China ive heard a lot of fakes come from eastern europe and surprizingly italy (they usually only fake their own coins). The trade Dollar and the early dollar ive written about it in another post are some of the most faked coins trust me youll never find a real one for 10€ maybe for 1000€  :° or so. Its not a good sign for the shop if they sell fakes. By the way you are from Albania right? you wouldn´t happen to have or know where to get a 5 or a 10 qindar coin ? https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces10471.html or a https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces24312.html ?

Hello,

yes I have heard Bulgarians are very good forgers for antique coins, and in Macedonia they also forge Napoleon III gold coins. But this is the first time I see fakes in Albania....Even because the coin market is small here.

Yes I am from Albania and live in Albania. Regarding the Frang Ar in the link, never seen one with my own eyes...5 & 10 Qindar I am also looking for them, quite expensive! I wonder why they were not faked as well :)

Yeah they somehow don't really seem to fake copper coins even though some are worth 1000s of dallars
