Dear Community,

Could you please help in attributing (state/ruler, date/period, denomination and, possibly, mint) these three Eastern coins?

1) 12 g weight, 18-19 mm diameter, copper or bronze:

2) 7.7 g weight, 17-18 mm diameter, also copper or bronze:

3) 3.4 g weight, 16-17 mm diameter, presumably silver:

1 - Cambay

2 - Bophal

3 - not sure but looks lika a Karshapana

Dear Geison,

Thank you very much – owing to your guidance I have identified the first one as 1 paisa 1880-1915, Princely state of Cambay - Ja'far Ali Khanji.

However, as for the second one – Numsta Search engine doesn't give any results for the query ‘Bophal’. So, could you please be more specific on that?

As for the third coin – can the letter in the middle of seemingly four-petal flower, on the coin's plainer side, be Arabic ‘Noon’ letter? And, consequently, can this coin be of some later (Islamic) period (rather than of BC-Karshapana one)?

Maybe try Bhopal instead of Bophal

Yes, absolutely! I have already attributed this coin to Princely state of Bhopal's 1 Pie coins:

N#94996

However, could anybody please give a clue how to determine the mint date: 1305 (1888) or 1306 (1889)?

Third may be a karshapana

Third may be a karshapana

Thank you very much.

Yes, it indeed quite looks like Ancient Indian Karshapana. Now it is left to attribute it to an issuing state and a period…

May the presumed ‘Noon’ sign  be a clue here?
