What does it mean by initially minted ? Was there more made but  back dated to 1919 ? Or were they recalled ?
51 494 out of 5 852 262 were melted for some reason in 1920. 1919 is still by far the most common date to see the coin in though

Taking a break from swapping for a while, but still interested in pre 1799 Spanish coins, I will make time for that!

Looking for pre 1783 coins

Nope, all Elizabeth don't think he will have them after today, wish I could have got them all

Spot is pretty much all the elizabethans are worth in anything under MS-63, but 1956 and some 'arnprior' (waterline) varieties (1955) fetch a premium

Roughly how much is a George V dollar worth by the way ?
Verweis : Mark240590Roughly how much is a George V dollar worth by the way ?
Roughly? How about precisely:
(Prices are in dollars)
1935: F: 28 VF: 33 EF: 38 AU: 42 MS-60: 47 MS-62: 55 MS-63: 75 MS-64 125 MS-65: 350

1936: F: 28 VF: 32 EF: 36 AU: 40 MS-60: 60 MS-62: 80 MS-63: 120 MS-64 225 MS-65: 850

Note that the two year have different obverses, check on numista
More importantly note that since these coins are not rare, I could probably get them at closer to 75%  of some of the catalogue values. (Albeit with some bargaining)

Oh god I need both ! "/
You seem to need everything Mark! Lol.  Including a Straits dollar.
I do haha, straits dollar is top of my list but they are quite expensive for a nice one so I will wait, I'm
Fighting the war on 4 continents here my man. I need a rhodesia and Nyasaland shilling still.. I mainly go for what I nearly have everything off like that shilling and a rhodesia 3d (QEII) to complete the colonial periods, then I will re visit later or pick up the odd coin of QEII southern rhodesia ha..

That's why I need the straits dollar because I have alot of straits coins, they just don't all match up.. Yet..
And I'm pretty much done with KGV Canada once I have it all up to 50c I will then get the 2 dollars I need and move on too finishing the Newfoundland collection.

i really might catalogue it in the future with pictures i cant believe how far along its come although i must say my swap list has gone from 400 too 200 in no tim and ive recieved 90=odd coins in a single swap before so thats why my collection has grown, i also have alot of what poeple may have regarded pocket change but its not the case as in the eastern caribbean territories and the cooks etc.. i love having them all !
I just got a Victorian 25c from Canada 1874 for half the melt value, so stoked.  NZ$4 for the coin, melt value NZ$7.15 catalogue value about NZ$15.  Whoop whoop!

Wow! you get more killer deals like that buy them straightaway and if you don't need 'em I'll be happy to buy them off ya. Victorias are sought after here and always go for near catalogue value which is NZ $15 for just a G.

Sweet purchase  :°

Yea, your lucky in New Zealand, no deals here, everyone is searching like hungry beasts, and people want far more than a coin is worth.

I guess it's supply and demand.  Most people here seem to collect NZ and Australia coins so they always go for round catalogue value and above, anything else comes up sometimes (like the Victorian 25c) I end up the only bidder and I get it for the reserve.  It's probably opposite in Canada.  USA and Canada coins go for catalogue and I'm guessing you can probably get NZ and Aus coins for under catalogue.
people think that if its silver its worth huge money, even people who dont collect coins.
but yes most collectors only collect US.

Strange, in canada at least it seems that NZ and Australian coins sell at or above catalogue, especially the popular silver ones. I think that at least in Canada people like to collect stuff from other countries that had the same obverses as our own coins, or at least because of our stronger british connection.

I would say that is exactly what it is as all former colonies and regal coins go for catalogue (mainly)
Unless you're me and a few other of our tenacious members who dedicate ourselves to finding em cheap ha !
