Well I certainly have found some beautiful pennies in my life but thought I would only get to see one of these behind a display case in museum or something. I could not believe my eyes when I saw it right in the middle 4 shield pennies it was surreal. I would love it if you guys could please put your input into this seriously…I am new here but have been collecting pennies for 34 years since I was taught at 8 how to spot dying issues, I look forward to being a member here forever as long as you guys will have me. I really do enjoy pennies though and don't mess with anything else. Oh and the penny weighs 3.13 grams which is the correct weight for bronze which a true wheat penny is 97% bronze. Thank you all for the input!

I welcome you, and you have absolutely bet on the best horse.

Just a cent is a sufficient well of history - the present and certainly the future of the numismatic world. And their knowledge and study is sufficient even for one person to understand the collection.

I also love cents, but unfortunately I'm behind a big pond, so I'm only slowly adding to my collections. According to the plans, I intend to add a larger quantity in the spring.

I haven't studied the 1958 cent that much - however, the photos captivated me tremendously.

Looking at the photos, I thought I was at a fashion show of the Gucci women's spring collection+associated with the Miss Word competition in a swimsuit and a wet t-shirt together.

So I react to the cent subconsciously 😁🤐

I wish you a nice collecting in the new year.

Wow, found in change doesn’t get any better than that!

Hey, Thanks for the welcome guys! That's some really good responses thanks! 🤑

May I ask what grade this would more then likely fall under please.

It really looks uncirculated, but as you found it in change, I suppose it is Almost Uncirculated, AU.

So that knocks it out of the pristine category then correct? I am home sick today and have a few coins I have questions about….really only two with questions and one more to gloat hehe I found a 59 P AU hehe…Same place! Hit some 44's and 45's this morning as well.

Here is a discussion of what is and what is not “uncirculated”.  It is fuzzy. Not a hard rule.

I think you could well believe that coin had only been handled by four people - the original owner(who broke open a mint roll and dumped them in to a jar), his grandson, who dumped out the jar in to his pockets, one shopkeeper, and you. That is fairly un-circulated, and it is brilliant.

So let us say AU/BU for this area.

I got them from a roll…Loomis rolls is pretty much all I can get my hands on. I pick rolls in record time probably hehe. So this isn't pocket change in the essence but is circulated. So maybe the shopkeeper gets knocked out of the equation hypothetically and a collection was deposited into a bank by an unknown heir to a penny collection that was not informed of what they were and simply used the highly collectibled as their face value instead of their true value! Bank takes the boxes weighs them, pays the customer, and then the bank circulated the money. I entered the equation after banking system. Sorry for the late response I know you guys are probably a little curious as to my next questions hehe. I am extremely sick and slept, but I am going to post the questions here within 15 minutes. In which case I have more questions then answers on here for the moment but promise contribution into this community I like it! I honestly didn't know what my penny collection I have accumulated over 34 years was actually worth. Some of my pennies have raised some eyebrows and a few quarters and dimes. Okay So instead of 15 minutes I got the first question pic in here if that's okay? Question: WTH is this error????

What error do you see? It's a very worn Standing Liberty quarter.

Well if you click on that link Mr. Midnight posted and scroll down, you will see where someone named ALLRED1950 posted a picture of one and wasn't sure because of his “writtttttting” if he was joking or making a statement or what have you, so I figured I would ask because I don't mess with quarters….Just pennies.

That is another example of a very worn quarter like yours except yours has more wear (note the lack of any letters on the obverse of your coin).

You have the coin in hand. You should try to grade it yourself. It's fun but takes some practice.  Use the link below and see which matches the details in your coin.

The point of his joke was to say it had not been circulated in his lifetime.

It is like ask if ones virginity can come back after not having any **** for 40 years.

FYI , those standing standing liberty quarters wore out the worst of all  US coins.

I have a friend who has been a dealer for a century. We were talking about junk silver. He said there is no junk silver, - except liberty standing quarters with no date or rims.

Well thanks for explaining that to me LMFAO. I see where he was like where's the error LMFAO….The way they wear down kinda looks like a machine error though, like an oddly shapen…Gonna say it…I'm gonna say it….Cock like shape to it. Even my wife made some comments I won't elaborate on about that thing…Her exact words were: “Throw that thing away it's ugly”.
