Apothecary or Apothecaries Weights?

I'm going through cataloging this HUGE lot of world coins I picked up yesterday filled with all sorts of goodies (more on that in a future topic). And I came across a strange old-looking little coin that says Two Scruples. I did some Google'ing and came up with this;

made by some guy in Philadelphia in the 1800's. Does anybody know of, have, or collect these?
There are some listed on Ebay with pretty high BIN's

Yes, not so long ago. I came across some and did a little research. Strange little things but very interesting. The lighter scruples are practically thin wafers of metal. I don't collect them, but remember being intrigued and I started off thinking that they were old forms of money!
When I saw it at first it appeared to be some very old Danish 2 skillings coin, or the one's with the crowned "C" designs. But the design is the same on both sides so I knew it was something I'd never seen before. It definitely looks and aged like an 1800's coin though. The exact one I found is pictured in the link in my original post, its the Top row, second from left.  "Made by Henry Troemner (H.T.) of Philadelphia". I'd guess it's around 15mm or about the size of a fingernail.

What adds to the intrigue for me is it's local history, Philly is only about 2 hours drive from me.  And even though it's not an actual circulating coin, nevertheless it's got history on it's side for sure. And I too am intrigued by it.

Here's another link if anyone else is interested in reading more about them;

I believe the ones I found were used in the Navy by my wife's grandad (now deceased). I'd like to take another look at them...and will have to at some point.
Anyway, certainly an interesting subject.
I've heard of them but I can't remember where or why indeed something like this would come up (apart from this thread of course)
Are they anything like the sovereign weights you can get?

I don't have a clue about this but;
I think so.
Were they used for the same purpose? Both measured in grains. From what I just read, chronologically it looks like the sovereign weights pre-date the apothecary weights which were then replaced by metric weights.
Do they both fall into the same collectibles category? They should, they aren't coins but could possibly fall into some exonumia sub category?
