Portugal 20 Escudos Planchet Lamination defect [gelöst]

I have this Portugal 20 Escudos coin from 1987 that has two large “cracks” on the reverse. One is wider and runs the diameter of the coin while the thinner one goes almost all the way across and follows the contours of the coin design.

Any information would be greatly appreciated and helpful.

The second picture is angled in the light and edited slightly to make the cracks easier to see. Top is in true color.

Looks like a planchet lamination defect. Do the “cracks” extend down the edge or are they only on the surface?

Yes the crack extends just slightly along the edge, though it starts running around the edge like a ring rather than across it. Apologies for the phone pics but I tried to circle the crack along the rim and edge

Another interesting thing is that there are some bands of discoloration in the same area. I thought it might be dirt but the edges of the discoloration are too clean and the bands parallel the cracks so I’m not sure if it’s related. The first of the blow images is true color. I edited the second one to make the bands of discoloration more noticeable.
