ok so here's what i found at the thrift store for a Quarter stuck in the pinback buttons bin…
1988 Coins of America laminated card cash bar token card with 1943 steel cent inside
writing on card reads:
‘Cash Bar Token ’ / 'Wartime Steel Cent' / 1988 Coins of America Germantown TN 38183-0916 / 'Good for $1.50'
reverse of card is blank..
thought it was cool so i bought it. ( even though i have 2 rolls of steels anyways)
when looking at it, i thought i saw double lettering, so i cut the thing out as fast as possible, but it was just the thick lamination tricking me ..
but.. what i found was the ‘43 is missing . i mean like 99.992% gone… you can barely see a faint shadow of ’43'
no mint mark..
everything looks authentic
weight on scale is 3 grams-ish
magnetic
spot rusting as usual..
doesn't look ground-off or polished down..
what am i looking at here..???
not sure if this company restruck them .. or if this is a real error..
any help is appreciated.
