1964-D US Nickel - Coppertone, Lighter Weight & Offset

My aunt passed on recently and I'm going through her coins.  She worked for a bank for 26 years.  Most are vanilla but this one is a 1964 nickel, looks like a mint mark of a “D” that is copper in tone, thinner than a nickel, seems to be a bit bigger than a penny but smaller than a nickel and is offset with the “In God We Trust” on the front not fully readable.  I don't have an easy means of weighing it.

She left no notes on this but did have it in a protective case.  I'm not an expert.  My simple research hints at either somebody was having fun with her, maybe its improperly annealed or struck on a 1c planchet or ??.

Any thoughts are appreciated.

Someone cut it. It is not a complete round shape.

Some of the lettering is half there.

Token collector [1600-1899] with some coins

That makes sense.  Thoughts on why is it thinner than the regular nickel?

It happens.  Get it weighed. See if it's 3.1g.

Collar was for a nickel. That could cause nonuniform expansion.
