I think this new coin page should not be created:

N#407171

But merged with this one already existing:

N#22312

Both are the same composition (bronze), diameter, weight, design… only the finish is different (Specimen vs Proof) but finish should be separated as different year lines, not separate page.

OH! I have a lot of work to do.

On the contrary, we have to remove this page: N#22312

The picture is not the right one, and all the details mentioned on this page are not complete and the specimens are now with copper-plated zinc parts. Moreover, in French it says that this page is for specimen sets. I did mention to the administrators that I'm going to remove all the sets and talk only about the piece.

Yes, it's possible that the new created page is with more complete information that the old one… but anyway, both should be merged in my opinion and the yearlines should be simply doubled: one as Proof, second as Speciment finish (which is special one type with kind of frosted surface but not the proof one).

We can't fuse them because the proofs are bronze, but the specimens are copper-plated zinc.

These specimen coins are now merged with this page and with the correct specification. It is for this reason that I request to remove the proofs from this page. In addition, the 2003 proof is in copper : N#424

What's more, the cent specimen 2001 is made of nickel-plated steel.

Ok, yesterday all specimens were bronze and they are still here:

N#22312

But it could be the error of this page.

I have 2001 coin so I will check in coming days if this is bronze or magnetic (plated steel).

Queen Elizabeth

Explanation: From 1953 to 1996 all Specimen are bronze, from 1997 to 2000 all Specimen are copper-plated zinc and from 2001 to 2012 all Specimen are nickel-plated steel.

The Proof, from 1981 to 2002 are in bronze and from 2003 to 2012 are in copper. With a few exceptions, some models are 99.99% silver.

When I say Specimen, I mean the finish of the coin, and the same goes for the proof.

Yes, it's true. My 2001 non-magnetic coin that I supposed to be N#22312

is in reality the Proof one… so the old page (link above) was separated correctly but the description was wrong: bronze is Proof but this was not written on the old page. Instead was “from specimen set”. I don't know what were the old specimen sets, maybe with the prrof coins (the newer ones are with special Specimen finish).

StoneTemple123, thank you for correcting it!

It could be a mess with the moving the users from old page. I guess part of users could not look at finish (Proof/specimen) but rather on composition: magnetic or not, like me… so I would say the best is to merge old page with the one for Proof coins (both bronze). I already switch my coin myself.

Just one thing: I would add to the title rather info about composition/magnetism than “Proof” to distinguuish from normal coin.

SPECIMEN

 PROOF

Really different :

Specimen: leaves and queen mirror, frosted contour.
Proof: frosted leaves and queen, mirror outline.
