Hello everyone,

does anyone know what pattern coins qualify as? I've seen some of them be catalogued in the exonumia section, while others were in the normal coin section.

Thanks and kind regards

Seems like the website plans to keep these in the coin section.

Ok, thank you!

For me it’s a grey area, personally I see them as coins as many are produced as a fore runner to the issue coins, however some have no link whatsoever and those could be classed as exonumia Pretty much the same as imitation coins are.

Yes it is pretty much a grey area.

Generally if the pattern coin is produced by an official Mint such as this one >>> N#124657

I think it should go in coins.

If it is an unofficial Fantasy pattern issued by a non-official mint such as this >>> N#298585

it should go in Exonumia.

That is my Australian 2 cents worth anyway.  😀
