Hello everyone,

what coin in your collection is in the worst condition? I want to see coins so bad, that they'd get a grade of PO1, or even PO 0 (though it doesn't exist.)

This Australian sixpence I bought in a collection about 3 or 4 years is the worst of the worst. You can just tell its 1912. I would grade it below Poor 1, this is Comedy Relief bad 0.4.

A sixpence should weigh 2.82 grams, a coin in good condition has lost 10 % of its weight at most, this weighed 2.27 grams meaning its lost 0.56 grams or some 20% of its original weight!

I love coins. Especially silver, gold and anything really old.

Due to the scratches at the bottom, it kind of looks like this coin was cleaned. Imagine it getting a grade: Poor Details: cleaned.

Why would anyone clean a coin that worn.

Well I didn't clean it and I don't clean coins ever. I may end up buying them if they are in a big mixed lot, in which I can't account for every single coin.

Sorry I just took the comment like the fact it was cleaned in the past was a much more vile sin than it being so worn. Here's some more worn coins for you.

Australian sixpence from 1910 (Again a duplicate), no photo of its reverse. This would be around AG3 with an attempt at melting.

1680s Dutch reiderschilling I think, this would be Fair or even poor

Irish Halfpenny 1766 or 1769, stained and probably around Fair2 or a Fair/Poor + 1.5. Likely this was also cleaned in past.

1870 GB penny, just one of many of these ultra worn coins. They get worse than this, some are flat with just a date as the area for it was recessed and survived after everything else wore off. This would easily be Poor 1. Many 1860s to 1880s bronze coins like this exist, due to them being used up to 1971! So thats 100 years of constant use and abuse. Plus many ended up in the ground given their colour.

An extremely rare, coin from Indonesia. Unfortunately, it is worn to a point that there is no longer any identifiable legends on the coin 😢. The legend is supposed to read جيد للضحك in Arabic…

Two little peruvian coins (both Lima mint) which certainly can tell about hard times :

This poor  1/2 REAL 1757  was holed and put into jewelry  ……

… and this very worn 1/4 REAL 1840 was witness of lots of commercial transactions during it's "active life".
